Prime Lambs

The weekly sale of prime lambs saw a few less about with trade very similar on the week overall. Again fed and inspect lambs easily sold. TR Prickett, Hutton Roof weekly consignment of quality lambs topping at £169 for Texels who also had other Texels at 384ppk. Other texels to £165.00 from B & SE Carter, Ellel. G Beresford, Kirkby in Furness had handy weigh Suffolk to £138. Plent of other inspect continental bred lambs round the 325ppkg mark. Heavy continental lambs 50+ round the 300ppkg mark. Hill bred lambs saw heavy cheviots from AG Butler, Hambleton to £166. Inspect Cheviots to £138 from KM & KJ Curwen, Abbeystead. Lonks to £120 from S Bosworth, Burnley. Mule lambs to £138 from David Gardner, Brookhouse others from B & SE Carter at £130.

Cast Ewes

A few more cast sheep in the market today. T & E Burrow with Texels to £185 other Texels to £174 from G Beresford & Son, Kirkby in Furness. Good meated mules from C & B Lowther, Over Wyresdale to £170 a size down to £160 from M & L Cooper, Preesall. Plenty of other Mules round the £154 mark. Suffolk ewes to £158 from D & K Swarbrick, Out Rawcliffe who also had cheviots to £162. Swales from T & ME Longton & Son, Quernmore to £100 who also had Herdwicks at £96.

Store Lambs

Store lamb sale every Monday at Lancaster following the prime lambs sees plenty of interest as buyers stop to watch for anything fit to kill. Just 30 in today which is a shame as 300 could have easily been sold. AD Leak, Conder Green with Suffolks to £128. Texels to £118 from M & L Cooper, Preesall.
